God, Science, and Our Search for Meaning – Leveraging the Planetarium for fostering dialogue and finding common ground

Presentation theme: inclusion diversity equity accessibility

The Museum of Science seeks new ways to engage all areas of our community with science learning and its connection to our larger world. As part of this work, the Charles Hayden Planetarium produced and released its original fulldome film »God, Science, and our Search for Meaning« exploring the relationship between science and religion, which premiered in Boston in November 2022. The show uses the Planetarium’s immersive capabilities to present resonant, compelling, and thought-provoking ideas about science and religion, providing an opportunity for audiences coming from a variety of scientific and spiritual viewpoints to gain insight in the ways in which we all seek to understand the question of our human connection to the cosmos. In this presentation, you’ll hear more about this project from the Museum of Science, including our collaboration with international bestselling author and New England resident, Dan Brown, as well as our work with advisory groups from AAAS, Harvard Divinity School, and others to ensure the script and other elements of the program presented the sensitive topics of science and faith with respect and care.
