Dr Edward Gomez is an astrophysicist, award winning educator and IAU vice-president of Division C (Education, Outreach and Heritage). As part of his role with Las Cumbres Observatory he finds novel ways to engage the public in science by using astronomy. In 2017, Edward created the award winning education programme, Global Sky Partners, combining robotic telescopes with high quality education projects. In 2018 he co-wrote the science comic book series Ada's Adventures in Science, which promotes diversity, individual empowerment and scientific confidence in children. The comics are available in 17 languages and more than 15,000 copies have been sent to over 20 countries. Edward lives and works in Cardiff, UK and enjoys life with his 7-year old twins, playing renaissance music and hacking on IoT devices.
