Living in Balance: Co-creating a planetarium show on local Indigenous Star Knowledge

Planetarium in East Lansing, Michigan, USA with indigenous partners to offer a show on the star knowledge indigenous to the Great Lakes region of tNorth America. The script and art was created by Dr. Elizabeth LaPensée and the show heavily features the Eastern dialect of Anishinaabemowin. It was narrated, reviewed, and approved by Anishinaabe elders and community members including Alphonse Pitawanakwat, Aarin Dokum, and Dr. Annette Lee. Abrams Planetarium translated the assets into a show using Digistar 6 programming and are distributing the show. There is an accompanying educator guide as well. This talk will discuss how the partnership evolved and approach taken in co-creating this show.
