Presentation theme: educational advances in planetariums

Technological advances for immersive projection inside a planetarium have been notorious in the last 100 years. Their range goes beyond 360º visuality; they have extended to sound design and the development of innovative approaches to education and learning.

In this context, mobile planetariums promote immersive experiences that motivate learning in rural areas, museum halls, alternative educational spaces, and communities without infrastructure for a planetarium.

However, mobile planetariums are able to adapt their contents to achieve their effects directly on the senses. Likewise, their aim is to lead their audience to respond with the logic of images and sounds.

In this regard, any creator of immersive environments could identify the difference between color degradation, scales and perspectives on how to use the available technologies and maximize their messages.

Also, there is an advantage on big scales because a larger scale involves a greater depth of field and more attention is needed to identify the contents; a comparative study between immersive experiences in a mobile planetarium in Mexico City and the planetarium in Jena Germany, demonstrated the difference.

According to the data collected in both experiences, immersive art needs to stimulate the view to reproduce its contents. More results will be part of the presentation.
