Learn how to bring the latest Moon/Mars (and beyond?) imagery into your planetarium to create a more realistic and immersive experience for your guests. This workshop will explore various data repositories of both planetary imagery and 3D models and use free geospatial tools to improve your visualization pipeline.
- exploring/accessing data repositories: Participants will delve into the exploration and retrieval of data such as MRO HiRISE (Mars) and LROC (Moon) through various archives.
- imagery wrangling: Learn commonly needed image processing techniques for both individual images and stacked layers of different resolutions.
- processing for the planetarium: Prepare imagery specifically for your planetarium software.
- exploration tips: Once the data is successfully in the dome, explore some of the nuances of interactive with this new immersive environment in a live and cinematic fashion.
